About:Turpan Transportation

US citizens ( family of 4) planning a china trip. Beijing 4 days, taking train to Xian(3 days),

flying to Shanghai for 3 days. Do we need Chinese visa? If yes, what kind? Or are we OK for 72 hours Transit?

Yes, you are suggested to apply for a L visa in advance, and your situation is not ok for 72 hours transit.
