About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do Republic of Ireland citizens qualify for the 72 hour visa?

I wondered could I travel from Hong Kong to Beijing for 48 hours then back to HK for a flight back to the UK?
thanks,

The citizens of Ireland can make use of the 72 hour free transit. However, as you fly from HK to Beijing and then back to HK, the route is not considered as a valid tansit. If you want to avail youself of the free transit policy, you should get on a direct flight from Brijing to the UK.
