Hi I'm traveling to China for 6 months, just want to know how bad air pollution is in Beijing and HK

Ruby, the air quality in HK is much better than Beijing. You needn't worry about this. In Beijing, the air quality is worst in winter, usually from Nov. to next Mar.. So you may avoid going to Beijing during this period.

You can check air quality/pollution at the US Department of State embassy (for Beijing) or consulate web sites in Shenyang, chongqing, Guangzhou, or Shanghai. Just go to the main page of any one of those sites and you will see the link.
