About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

SFO-(Beijing)-Shanhai-Macau

Hi,
I plan to go from SFO to Macau with a 3 day layover in Shanghai. Our flight from SFO will land in Beijing first with a 2-hr connection to Shanghai. We will leave for Macau within 3 days. Is this itinerary qualified for the 72-hr free transit? One of your examples seems to suggest the negative. Could you clarify?

Johns, as you will trasfer from one city to another in mainland China, you cannot make use of the 72-hour free transit policy.
