About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Is the 72 hour visa possible after spending a few days in Hong Kong?

We have to go to Hong Kong for business, but would like to take an excursion to Xian. Do we book our flight from Hong Kong to one of those cities from home (USA), then apply for the 72 hour free transit when we go to get on the flight to Xian, then to return to Hong Kong within 72 hours?

Hi Ken, if you want to enjoy the 72-hour free transit policy, you need to book the flight back to home before you travel from Hong Kong to Xi'an. So your itinerary should be USA - Hong Kong - Xi'an - USA. Note that you should fly direct from Xi'an to the USA rather than return to Hong Kong.
