do we need to get a invitation form in china embassy?

hello me and my son are filipino passport holder and had a plan to visit my sons's dad in guandong.my question is, do we need to get an invitation form in china embassy in Philippines for him to fill up and send back to us? Or just an invitation letter from him is enough?

Ann, an invitation letter from your husband will be enough. The letter should include 1) information on you and your son (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.); 2) information on the planned visit (arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, etc.); and 3) information on your husband (name, contact telephone number, address and signature).
