Do you refer to skiing? If yes, according to the previous records, the first half month is a good time for you to ski.
During the second half month, the temperature has gone up again.

No you can not use Skype in China However, to remain in contact with your friends, you have another option of using QQ video chat. Dowload it and make an account asking your friends to do the same.

You can use skype in China. We use it for many years to contact with our families and friends abroad. What you can't use is Facebook, but there is a method that I can't help you with.

Hi AWF,

We are in Canada, but spend every July in CC. The only way that you can use Skype is with a proxy server and even then it is hit and miss. Francois may have better workaround for you. Anywhere outside of this city's major hotels, you can't use hotmail or gmail. I could not get Google to work last summer (2014). I could sometimes get the Yahoo search engine and Yahoo news, but it is often just freezes.

To communicate with our family, we use FaceTime, and it works perfectly. The advice to use QQ is somewhat dated as the Chinese have moved in droves to WeChat which is roughly a hybrid of Twitter and SnapChat.

How is the weather in July? Is it constantly raining? Climate data says 15 days of rain, but doesn't specify if it's just sun-showers or non-stop.

Hi, the weather is very hot in July, the average temp is about 30 celcus degree. It most likely rains half of the month. 50% of the rain this half month could be 'non-stop' rain, even sometimes a storm(very mild compare those in US)! and 50% could be shower and drizzle..

Greetings, Aimi
