There is no limit for the number of entry permits that you can get in one year. However, I don't think it's wise to leave and return repeatedly, for the officers at the frontier inspection authority may suspect your motivation for doing so. Why not apply for a one year or six month double entry type? It's much convienient and cost-efficient.

What would the 1 year and 6 month double entry allow me to do?

Sorry, I made a mistake. What I was suggesting should be the one year or six month multiple entry type, by which you can enter China for multiple times within one year or 6 months.

So if I were to choose the multiple entry type for 1 year does that mean I could enter multiple times but each time can only be for 30 days. Then would I have to leave but then I can come right back on that same visa for another 30 days and keep repeating until a year is up?
