About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

can I transit thru shanghai with a standby ticket

Further to my last question, i'm using my airline staff travel to go from lhr pvg syd, I dont want to leave the airport, just stay in the transit lounge. But qantas will not confirm my seat until an hour or so before the flight. Will I still be able to transit without a visa, as I won't want to leave the airport.. Or will immigration not allow me entry to the transit lounge to wait?

Kiwi, if you want to make use of the direct transit policy, you must provide air tickets with confirmed seat and date. I don't think the standby ticket will work.

I'm trying to do the same The zed fare email from Qantas says confirmed ticket. Includes a ticket number and a confirmation code. I really thought that would be fine. Seats are not always confirmed even by full paying passengers until just prior the departure -
