China visa for non citizen holder

Hi, I'm wondering whether i can get a visa in new york. Because I'm not american and i'm an international student from another country. Actually I need to get the x2 type but the problem is that i don't have enough time to get it in my country before entering china. Thats why i apply for it in new york. Is there any document that i provide ? Like i20 i mean.. Thank you!

Bareum, you may try to apply from Chinese consulate that has jurisdiction over the area where you stay. In order to apply for X2, you should have the admission letter (copy and original version) from the Chinese school together with your legal status in the US aside from your passport, filled 2013 version application form and a recent passport photo.
