Is there any need of transit visa during stay on airport?

I am going Italy and have short stay of few hours in Russian Airport to take other flight

If you can provide valid passport and onward flight tickets with confirmed date and seat, you do not need to get the transit entry, but you can only stay in the transit area of the airport.

I am Pakistani national and working in China, I am going to attend seminar in Italy via Russian Airline. Does I qualify same condition?

If the stay is not more than 24 hours and you hold a valid passport as well as the visa for Italy, I think you are qualified for the free transit. However, you'd better confirm it with the Russian embassy in China.
