British citizin on holiday in Vietnam wanting to visit China

Could you please tell me how to obtain a L type? Where do I have to go and what do I need to take with me? Thank you!

You should go to the Chinese embassy in Vietnam and submit the following materials: an application form attached with your recent color photo, your valid passport and a photocopy of its data page, your entry permit for Vietnam, and roundtrip tickets and hotel booking records in China.
