About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Transit in Shanghai 6.5 hours

Hi, can anyone tell me if I need any visa for my layover in Shanghai for 6.5 hours from my flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to San Francisco, USA?

More clarification -- Will I be able to leave the airport to go visit Shanghai shopping districts without a visa within the 6.5 hours?

Kevin, you are eligible for the 24 hour free transit and you can go to visit Shanghai by applying for a temporary stay permit at the airport.
