About:China Transit Visa

How does the 24-hour transit exemption actually work?

I will have a 5-hour connection in Beijing between my flight from Toronto to Taipei. But I bought the two legs separately, that means I would need to get out of customs and re-check in for my latter flight right? Does this transit exemption allow me to enter and exit through customs visa-free during my connection? THANK YOU!

Yes, you can enter and exit through customs during your flight connection. You can even go out of the airport by applying for a stay permit.
