About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a visa for a technical stop in Xiamen?

I am from EU country and I have a flight with transfer in Bejing. There is no need for visa for that, but there is also a technical stop in Xiamen and the airlines nor the Chinese consulate were able to tell me if I need one. Anyone got experience or any knowledge about this?
Thanks

Gabriela, you are not eligible for 72 hours if your plan stops in Beijing and Xiamen no matter what the reason is. In my view, you'd better apply for a G type in advance.

I have seen others met with similar situations. Generally speaking, you won't need one. If you are required to have the G type, you can apply for it at the airport, since it is a forced stopover. Anyway, if your total layover in China is not more than 24 hours, you will surely not need the transit permit.
