About:Tips for Travelling along Silk Road

Is it practical to take a motorcycle trip alone the silk road?

For example, if I break down are there facilities through out the silk road that can tow and service my motorcycle?

Some backpackers ride a bike or motorcycle to experience the road, but it is not practical to do this alone. Sometimes, things may be very hard to handle. Anyway, if there is a problem with your motorcycle, you can flag down a car or bus for help. Chinese people are usually kind to solo travelers.

Excellent advice. Would you say that it is doable with a group of ten motorcyclists and our own repair team? I say this because you made no comment on the infrastructure. Are there places at regular intervals where we can get access to adequate repair facilities? I assume the answer is no and if I take the trip I should have ample supplies to make the whole trip self sufficient. If this is the case it may be just too costly. Any experiences of yours that may help me understand how to plan better?

There are repair stations or stores in each city, but not along the road. But the gas stations can be easily found for the whole trip. You can ask whether these gas stations have any repair facilities anyway.
