From USA to Seoul to Shanghai to USA. does this qualify for 72 hour visa free stay?

I am a US citizen and would be flying from USA to Seoul for 5 days, then Seoul to Shanghai (Hongqiao airport). Then fly from Shanghai (Pudong) back to the USA.
