Can I get a 10-year visa to China in Hong Kong?

I am an American in Japan, going to Hong Kong. for 90 days each visit? What is the cost? After the stay in China, how long must I stay out of China before I can re-enter? Can I go to Hong Kong from China, then return to China from Hong Kong? Thanks!

It's true that US citizens apply for L type successfully in HK even though they don't have the HK resident status required. However, I don't know if you can get the 10 years L or other types in HK. I personally think that you may try to apply in Japan. If they don't give the 10 years one, then I am afraid that you may not have it in HK too.
