On your way from Tokyo to Bangkok, if you stay in Shanghai for less than 72 hours, you will be able to enjoy the 72-hour free transit. However, when you travel from Yangon to Beijing, if you plan to visit Beijing and have no idea about the next destination other than mainland China and Myanmar, I'm afraid you cannot make use of the free transit policy.
