MRS, it's not very difficult. There are exchange shops at the airport. You may just exchange a few to pay for the taxi or shuttle bus fee. When you arrive at your hotel, you can also exchange money too. But the exchange rate may not be good. My suggestion is that you visit local Bank of China and exchange your Euros/sterlings into RMB at the banks.

Better yet, see if your bank has a reciprocal agreement with any of China's major banks. If so, you can use your ATM free of extra service fees, and with ATMs you get a great exchange rate. Plug in the number of pounds or euros you want to withdraw, and out will come the equivalent number of yuan!
