About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

Extension to M Visa

Hi, Currently I am in China on an M type, which was sponsored by a company here in Beijing. Since then I am no longer in contact with that company. However I am looking to extend my using a sponsorship from a company I am now affiliated with. Would this be possible within Beijing, or at least within China? Would it also be possible to extend and receive a multiple entry one? I hold a UK passport.

I am afraid that you may not get a multiple M type without leaving China. Anyway, you should visit local entry and exit management bureau to confirm this. By the way, do you hold M type to work for that company? If so, you'd better apply for a Z type immediately. It's illegal to work under M type. Once the authorities learn about this, you will be punished seriously.

Hi Helen, thanks for your reply. But would it be possible to apply for single entry, or simply just an extension to my current M type, from within Beijing/China?

You may not use your current M or extend it for a new company. Just as Helen told you, if you want to work in China legally, you need to have a Work Z type.

Without wanting to come across as rude, but I didn't mention anything about working or my own PERSONAL situation. Please stay on topic and if possible reply to the questions I asked.
