About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

What if the time between flights is 79 hours

I want to come to Shanghai on Jan 12 at 6:40 am, I will leave on Jan 15 at 13:50. Will this work? Can I wait in the airport until 13:50? Is it possible to have problems from the airline with boarding?

Condition 1 above says "Based on the latest information, the 72 hours starts from 00:00 the day following the entry date in all the airports except Beijing." So your 72 hours starts at 00:00 Jan 13. So you should be OK.
