Yes, you need to apply for a L type in advance before you go to Nanchang. You should apply from Chinese embassy onr consulate in your area. The round-trip air tickets and hotel booking information are required except for your passport, filled application form and a recent passport photo. If you come to China for the first time, you should also provide recent six months bank deposit certificate, bir-stamped income tax return form, salary certificate or your professional ID card.
