Visa entry type change

I will enter China soon on an L type, 90 day, single entry, but I need to change this to double entry. I'm in Thailand travelling now - is it better if I apply for another single entry one here (is it possible to have two at the same time, and simply use one each time I enter?) or is it better if I apply to change it to multiple entry once I get to China (in Beijing?)

Thanks

Oliver, I am afraid that you may not get a multiple type when you are in China. You may try to apply for a new double-entry one when you are in Thailand. However, I am not sure if you will get it for sure. And it's impossible for you to have two single-entry L types at the same time.
