About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

My friend is an airline employee traveling standby, can he transit Beijing without a visa?

it keeps refering to ouward confirmed passengers, but what about standby passengers? He will be going BKK-PEK - DTW.

Standby passengers cannot enjoy the 72-hour free transit policy, so your friends cannot do so. He needs to have C type or a Transit G type in advance.
