About:Visa Policy of China

i am a US passport holder and travelling from Nepal to Japan.

I halt in Bejing and want to avail 72 hour free transit. My flight arrives at 11.45 am on 10 december 2014 and leaves on 13 december 2014 at 14.05 p.m.. I was wondering if i check in at the immigration within 72 hours, will that do or if i leave the immigration while comming to Beijing a couple of hours late so i am within 72 hour bracket. Pkease let me know what to do. My flight time is 74 hours from arrival but i will be at the airport within 72 hours to cross the immigration. Please respond. Thanks

Hi, Renu. According to the rules, the 72 hours in Beijing airport are started from scheduled arrival time to the departur time, so the 74 hours are not able to enjoy the free transit.

But it is still suggested to consult the Immigration at the airport directly for confirming. I saw the entry permit stamp on the passport states passenger can stay till 24:00, Dec 13 for your situation. So you are suggested to call to ask to make sure. Their phone number is 0086-10-56095400.
