About:Huangshan Travel

Hi! I am travelling from Shanghai in the morning to Tunxi and will arrive at about 1pm.

I was wanting to know if it is possible to travel from Tunxi to Hongcun village and back again in the afternoon. How long does it take to get there and is there public transport?
I am staying in Tunxi for 2 nights so I was wanting to go to Hongcun village the day I arrive then explore the mountain on the second day. On the third day I will leave in the afternoon some time.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can travel from Tunxi to Hongcun Village and back again in the afternoon.
It will take around 1.5 hours on the way.
There are eight long-distance buses at Tunxi Bus Station that can take you to Hongcun Village.
The schedules respectively are 08:00 am, 09:00 am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 13:00pm, 14:00pm, 15:00 pm and 16:00 pm. So don't worry.

Hi Dwen. Thanks for the quick response! I am now thinking of leaving my visit to Hongcun until the day I leave as I think I will be a little short on time with checking into my hotel etc. If I dont arrive till 1pm, I don't think I would be able to get to Hongcun until about 3:30pm after the 1.5 hr bus ride which wouldn't leave me much time for exploring.

I am thinking I might just wander around Tunxi on the day I arrive from Shanghai.

My plan now is on my last day to go to Hongcun on the first bus in the morning and then to Xidi by taxi, and then make my way back to Shanghai by bus that afternoon. I think I read somewhere that it is quicker to go back to Shanghai from Xidi than it would be to travel all the way back to Tunxi. Is this correct? Is there a bus form Xidi and what is the time table?

Thanks again!

It seems that no direct bus is available from Xidi to Shanghai. If you don't mind, I suggest you take a taxi from Xidi to Yixian. At Yixian Bus Station, two buses are scheduled every day, leaving at 07:00 and 14:20.

Hi Emma. I noticed Tangkou has a long distance bus station that has services to Shanghai. Their timetable has 5 buses going to Shanghai daily with the last bus leaving at 5pm. However it does mention that the timetable is subject to the season. I was wondering what their timetable will be on December 25th to Shanghai? That is the day I will be leaving

Thank you for you help :)

Hi, I heard the bus timetable is the same throughout the year. To confirm this, you can dial 0559-5561111 to consult. This is the consulting hotline of the mountain scenic area.
