About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am an Iranian national with an Iranian passport. I am travelling to Australia through China

I will go through Beijing and Guangzhou. My connection time is about 15 hours in Beijing and 5 hours in Guangzhou. I was wondering if I could go out of the airport without a transit visa? Thank you.

The flying time from Beijing to Guangzhou is around 3.5 hours, right?
If so, the total time you are in China (from the arrival time in Beijing to the departure time from Guangzhou) is less than 24 hours based on caculating. So you are able to leave the airport without a Transit type.

However, if the fly delays, it is hard to tell. Probably, you need to have a Transit type for your transfering.
