About:Transfer in T3 of Beijing Capital Airport

Transfer to Guangzhou then to NZ

I will arrive in Beijing on Hainan Airlines (Terminal 2), transfer to a Hainan Airlines flight to Guangzhou (Terminal 1), then to a China Southern Airlines flight to New Zealand. I am a New Zealander. I understand I can get a 72 hour visa in order to catch my domestic flight. I have 2 hours 50 minutes between my scheduled arrival time and departure time. Do I have enough time?

2 hours and 50min is enough for you if your flights arrive on time. So just take it easy.

Thanks Jenny. Will relax. Another thing that you may not know about, though. I just found out that the 72 hour visa is for onflights to other international destinations, not domestic. I am going on to Guangzhou. I have a Philippine friend who said he was given a temporary visa to fly to his next Chinese airport in order to fly out. So do you think I will have to get a full entry visa, or can I rely on common sense at BJ Airport?

Dear Jerry. You are right that you are actually not qualified for the 72h visa free policy. However, as long as your total transit duration is within 24h and you don't plan to get out of either of the airports, you don't need any visa nor permit for the transfer. Don't worry~
