Sister-in-law Eligible for S2?

Hi! We are Filipinos residing here in Xi'an, China due to my husband's work. I am due to give birth next month here in Xi'an. We wanted to invite my sister-in-law (my brother's wife) from the Philippines to visit us and assist me when I give birth. Can my husband sponsor her for an S2 visa? What are the requirements we need to prepare? Thank you.

Probably your husband cannot issue your brother's wife a S2, because she can hardly be regarded as a relative of your husband. You are suggested to ask your brother's wife to consult their local Chinese embassy for confirming this issue. If S2 is not available, she can try to apply for a multiple entry Tourist L for staying in China.

As long as your husband has a residence visa and work permit he can invite his immediately family members. Send copies of his passport, residence visa, and work permit. His sister will also need to provide proof of kinship, in this both of their birth certi. After entering China his sister can apply for a residence permit like you husband's BUT it will be tricky. For her to apply for a residence visa in China she needs the birth certificates to have "red ribbon" and authenticated by the Chinese embassy in Manila. Congrats and good luck! My son was born in Guangzhou :)
