Visiting Guangzhou for 6 days 5 nights

Hi,
I am from Singapore. Will be visiting GZ for 6 days alone and this is my first visit to China. I can only speak English and I intent to stay somewhere near to Huaisheng mosque vicinity and few other places. I wonder if you could advise me on few things:
1. Should I take a cab or train to Huaisheng Mosque area? How much will the cab fares be? If taking train is not a hassle, I be glad to take a ride.
2. recommended Inn or budget hotel to stay near the Huasheng mosque.
3. Do airport staff can guide me by speaking English?

Just give your best advice cause I know it is not easy for beginner like me. I do appreciate all the advice given. Thanks!!

Near the mosque, there is a Ximenkou subway station of line 1 available for you to get there.

If taking a taxi, may I know where do you start? If you start from the airport, it costs CNY 85 around. If from the GZ railway station, it costs about CNY15.

There is a Home Inn, located at No.410 of Middle Jiefang Road, Yuexiu District, about 550 yards from the mosque.

The airport staff can speak simple English, and there are signboards in English in the airport, too. Don’t worry about that.
