as a US citizen visiting singapore, does a 5 day RT ticket SIN-HKG qualify for 72hr china visa?

Do you make a transfer in any city of China?
If you fly from USA to HK and then to Singapore, you are qualified for the free transit policy in HK.0

I do not fly from the USA on this trip as I am in Singapore and have been here 30 days. I want to fly SIN-HKG for 5 days in HK then return HKG-SIN on day 5. I want to visit Guangzhou while I am in HK, probably by train or ferry. Can I get a 72 hr free transit when I arrive in HKG?
