About:

Train from Shanghai to Shenzhen takes about 12 hours

Why the train from SH to Hong Kong takes 18 hours?
Transportation from Shenzhen to Hong Kong is just for 1 hour,right?

It is hard to tell the reason. Maybe the trains use different route or they stopover for different time at the stops on the way. Both of them may lead to the different duration.

After arriving in Shenzhen, walk to Luohu Port and take East Rail Line to Hongkong. It will take no more than an hour. So the whole trip from SH to Hong Kong takes 13 to 14 hours on the way.
