Extension of my Visa in Shanghai

I am a Swiss citizen living in Shanghai.
My employer arranged an M type for me.
The issue date of the M is November 27th 2013.
My work contract here in China ends by December 31st 2014.
I wanted to know if there is any possibility to extend my M visa here in Shanghai or what other options I have.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi, hope it is not late to answer your question.
You can try to extend your M in Shanghai. To extend it, you need to prepare your valid passport, an application form, Valid Registration Form of Temporary Residence, a recent taken photo, registration certificate of your employer and Chinese official letter with official seal of the Unit issued by your employer. You can ask your employer to help you to get the last two documents.
