if we submit visa application in person, do we need to come in person to pick it up?

Question

We live in Michigan and have to make an overnight stay in order to deliver an application. Do we need to return to Chicago to pick this application up? This seems like a lot of travel in connection with this one application. Is it not possible to a) send this by mail  OR  b) get it on the day we are in Chicago?

Louise, if you don't have time, you may assign others like your families or friends to pick it up for you. Please remember to give the receipt to them and write a letter of attorney if necessary. There are express and rush services. If you plan to get it on the same-day you submit your application, you need to pay extra 30 dollars. And you are required to submit your application before 12:00. However, you need to be approved by the consulate if you want to use the rush service.
