How to declare when hand carrying US$5,000-US$10,000 out of China by an individual exiting China?

Simon, if you carry 5000 to 10000 USD, you should apply for the Certificate for foreign currency carry-on Free from the bank where you withdraw your money. Then you need to declare when you pass the customs. The officer will check your certificate and stamp it before you pass.0
