How to change a Q1 to a resident permit?

My spouse has recently (less than 2 months) return to live and work in Mainland (has no permanent residence abroad), however, she doesn't have any documents other than passport (no other documents such as Chinese ID or Residence Certificate). I have got Q1 visa with zero duration, and requirement to apply for residence permit within 30 days from the date of entry, so I wonder, once I will arrive to China (after 1 month), how can I proceed with that application, since I will be unable to satisfy the point 2 from the Basic Requirements for Application. What would be the solution?

Hi, your spouse is a Chinese citizen? If so, he/she will have a Chinese ID card. He/She can only use the passort to enter China, but other documents are needed if want to stay long.

For applying the resident permit, you need to have your valid passport, an application form, a recent taken photo, your Valid Temporary Accommodation Registration Form, your marriage certitificate, your spouse's ID card & household register.

Well, my spouse is a Chinese citizen, but doesn't have Chinese ID card & household register, because hr old Chinese ID, which she had 10 years ago, had expired, and she has no household register anymore, because it was taken after she left the university, according to the university policy. As we understand, in order to get these documents, she has to wait till she obtains the proof of returnal from studies abroad (回国留学证明) (she is waiting for it right now, for a few days already), then get formally employed (she currently works informally), then go to her town where she studied, pay a fines to the university, and only then apply for Chinese ID and household register. I'd like to know how much time would it take for her to get them, to decide when it is best for me to enter China, because we'd have only 30 days to apply for my temporary residence permit after my entry.

Based on my information, it may take around 40 working days (around two months) to get the proof of retunal from studies abroad if you apply in person. If you apply through an agency, it takes less. You need to contact the agency to know the exact time.

For the time to apply for Chinese ID, it usually takes around 60 days, but she can apply for a temperary one to use. For applying for house register, the exact time is hard to tell and you need to go to the local PSB for consulting.
