Can UK citizen not resident in UK apply for M visa?

I’m a UK citizen about to return to UK. I own a small company in China. After I return to the UK, I want to apply for M visa. There is a UK company ready to sponsor my application. Do I need to be a UK resident to apply for Chinese business visa?

Yes, actually you can apply for a work Z visa with much longer validity and the residency permit If you are a legal person of a Chinese company.
