About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

Im an America looking to work in China

I have lived here in Japan for almost 7 years, will I still need an FBI check for Z visa or do I need some Japanese check

If you have lived in Japan for 7 years, you need a police clearance from Japan local PSB instead of that from FBI.

So being that I have been here 6 and a half years my local police record is fine?

Basically speaking, it is fine. You can call the embassy for confirming this issue.
