About:Exit Regulations of China

Bob K from U.S. Exit monetary requirement.

I am inviting someone from China soon. Today, she e-mailed saying she needs $4500,00 for exit requirement. She said that it is requirement to show custom officer that she has enough money to stay in U.S. for three months. Is this true? I am confused. Why does she have to show custom officer that much cash when she is going to stay at my house.

Bob, I didn't hear about this. If she had valid US visa, she shouldn't be required to provide so much money. You may contact US embassy in China to confirm this. Tel: (86-10) 8531-3000. Or you may contact US customs at 1-877-CBP-5511 if you are in US. I think the customs can give you the answer.

She may need to show bank statements when applying for the visa. As far as showing the customs agent at exit it is not the case. They will simply ask her purpose of travel.
