About:Hong Kong MTR - Tuen Ma Line

Trip from Kowloon Shangri La Hotel to Tung Chung (Po Lin Monestary)

What is the route, which stations, transfers, etc. and how long would it take using the MTR and what would be the fare to get from our hotel to the monastery using the train?

From the hotel, walk to nearby East Tsim Sha Tsui Station to take the west rail line to Nam Cheong Station, where you can transfer to Tung Chung Line to Tung Chung Station. The fare is HKD16.5, and the travel time is about 40 mins.

Then walk to Tung Chung Town Center to take the bus No. 23 to Ngong Ping Station. Then walk to the monastery. The bus fare is HKD17.2 and the duration is about 50 mins.

Hi Grace,
Thank you for the reply. If you are a tourist why wouldn't you take the Cable Car from Ngong Ping to the monastery? How far is that from the Tung Chung station and how long is the cable car ride?

Yes, it is more convenient if you take the cable car up to Ngong Ping 360. Leave from Exit B of Tung Chung Station, and you can walk to the lower station of the cableway within 2 minutes. The cable car ride is about 25 minutes. :)
