Do you have a resident permit for living in Switzerland? If has, what type is it?

In general, if you have B, C or L type resident, you can apply in the Chinese consulate in Bern according to your address. Otherwise, you cannot apply in this country.

For the documents, you need to ask your friend to issue you an invitation letter, so that you can use the letter, your resident permit, your valid passport, an application form with a recent taken photo to apply.

You need to apply at the local Chinese embassy in Bern and the fee is 80 Swiss franc. They do not accept application by mail. The processing days are 4 working days.

Where are you now?

Applying in Italy requires a residence certificate or Italian ID Card. If you do not have either of them, you need to apply it in Switzerland.

If so, you can apply in Italy through the nearby CVASC. The Chinese embassy in Italian does not accept application directly.

The center in Milan has the address as: Viale Liguria 40, Milano 20143 and the fee is €76.60 per person. Before you go there, you can still call them for confirming this issue and their phone number is 02-83201385.
