From M visa to L

Hello! I got an M visa 90 days single entry. After 90 days, I would like to travel around China for less than a month. Can I ask for an L (so change from M to L) WITHIN China (for example in Beijing)? Or I need to go to Hong Kong and ask for a 30 days L? Thank you very much.

It is almost impossible to change a M to L within China, but you can go to the local Exit-Entry Adminstration Bureau for trying to apply. If it is not allowed, you can go to HK for applying.
