British citizen in Hong Kong for 6 days want to do day trip to china. Do I need any visas

I am stopping off in Hong Kong for 6 days before flying on to Australia.
I was hoping to take the train to China on a day trip.

You enjoys a 180-day free entry permit to HK, so you can just use your passport to enter. For China, you need to apply for a single entry Tourist L in advance.
