About:Huangshan Mountain

The best option from Shanghai to Huangshan is it by bus? where do we stop? is it closed to cable car

If by train, does the night train comfortable enough?
What time is the last bus going back to Shanghai? We plan to go on November, what the weather would be? Thanks

If you are pressed for time, the long-distance bus directly to the foot of the mountain shall be the best time. It takes 5.5-6h and you can take one at Shanghai South Long-distance Bus Terminal. Then you can transfer to a public bus to the cable car station, Yungu or Taiping, in 15-20min. The last bus to go back to Shanghai from the mountain leaves at 17:00.

If time is ok for you, you can consider taking an overnight train to travel. It will take you to HS city. Near HS Railway Station, there are direct buses to the mountain. BTW, the overnight train would be generally comfortable.

For the whole month, it is getting cold in the scenic area and the temperature range would be 23-59F. Sunny days would be the majority, and it may rain from time to time. To pack well, you'd better pay attention to the weather forecast in advance.

Hi Rex, thank you for the info

Sorry, more questions...where can I find the updated bus schedule from shanghai to HS? and yes our time is quite packed, any suggestion where we should spend the night (Tunxi would be too far I think), whereby we can easily reach the mountain and also easy access for us going back to shanghai

I searched the timetable at the official website of Shanghai South Long-distance Bus Terminal: 06:37, 07:57, 09:07, 10:27 and 14:39.
These buses will directly take you to the foot of the mountain, where you can easily find an accommodation. The price is relatively reasonable, but the facilities of the hostels or inns are just so-so.

Buses back to Shanghai are scheduled in the same bus terminal where you arrive in at 06:30, 07:20, 15:00, 15:30 and 17:00.
