About:Chinese Consulates in Thailand

I am Australian who is going to Bangkok and then to Hanoi and then catching the train to Nanning

I will not be able to show my fare into China as we are buying the train ticket in Hanoi and going to Guilin for a few days before taking the train to Hong Kong. After Hong Kong we will fly to Beijing and Xian and then we will be flying back to Bangkok from Beijing. We do not have any hotels booked as we are going to book upon arrival in Nanning. I don't have a letter of invitation as we are going as tourists. Will I be able to purchase my Chinese multiple entry visa in Bangkok to accommodate my itinerary?

Well, I think it's almost impossible for you to apply for the L type. You don't have an invitation letter. Also you can't provide round-trip air tickets and hotel reservation in China. By the way, there is no direct train from Guilin to HK. You need to take train from Guilin to Guangzhou and then change tains to HK. If you can provide air ticket from Guilin to HK or train ticket from Guangzhou to HK and any hotel booking in Guilin or Guangzhou, you may have a chance to apply for he L type.

If you really want to apply, you may ask help from some agencies and see if they are capable of helping you getting a L type.
