Work on an S1 visa?

My husband has a new job in Shanghai and I will be accompanying him. I would also like to be able to work in China. Do I need to apply for an S1 or my own Z type? I do not have a university degree; do I need one for ANY kind of job in China? My husband's work may be able to hire me as a part-time secretary, would they be able to do that?

If you want to work in China, a Z type is necessary.

The university degree is not necessary. Any degree is OK to meet your requirements for the job in China. If you want to be the secretary, you need to ask your husband's company to issue you a work permit and an invitation letter. With them, you can apply a Z type in your own country.
