I am going to Hk in oct and staying for 4 nights. can you advise the cheapest mode of transportation

You are recommended to make the best use of local bus, MTR and ferries. As you are going to stay there for 4 nights, I would suggest you buy an Octopus Card, with which u enjoy some discounts by riding local public transportation.
