Theoretically yes, but passengers who hop on the free shuttle bus need to show their airline tickets as well as the Airport Express (AE) train ticket (Single Journey, Same Day Return, Round Trip, AE Travel Pass).

Yes, you need to buy the ticket for the AE train. As u two are traveling together, you can buy the package ticket which saves you some money. It costs 140HKD to Kowloon for both of you and 160HKD to HK station.
