About:China Visa Exemption

Do I need a visa if I am traveling as a passenger on a ship and will only be in Shanghai overnight?

I would like to get off the ship and see the city

How long will you stay in Shanghai in total?
If you stay for less than 24 hours, it is not needed. You can apply for a stay permit with your valid passport and ship ticket to leave Shanghai. If it is over 24 hours, you need to apply for a single etry Tourist L.
